Advice, Upgrades, Repair and Maintenance by luthier Ross Chiasson for all styles of Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin and other plucked string instruments. Located in Kingston, ON, Canada.
I am
equipped to handle most repair needs. Below you will find a few of the
most common jobs that come into the shop, but the list is by no means
comprehensive. Each instrument is a little different and one size
doesn't fit all. Whether it's an obvious problem or you just feel your instrument could be better, I'm available to help.
The adjustment of your instrument to produce the best possible playing experience. I will take the time to listen to your preferences and expectations and then work to dial in your instrument to your specific needs. Adjustments at the nut, saddle, truss rod, and minor work on frets and electronics can make a world of difference.
Seems simple, but it's
very subtle. If they aren't level, you're going to hear it, if they
aren't perfect, you're missing out on a better playing experience.
Fretwork takes experience and practice, and I'm ready to
provide you with confident, clean work.
I am fully equipped to perform fretwork under simulated string tension and can offer a full range of service - levelling, edge dressing, crowning and re-frets.
Want to get the most tone, tuning consistency and projection out of your electric or acoustic instrument? If you're currently playing on a stock plastic nut or saddle, you're missing out. Get in touch to talk shop about replacing that bit of plastic with some genuine authentic bovine bone guitar parts - you won't regret it.
Depending on the break, often a simple, well aligned glue joint is sufficient to make the repair plenty strong for a long, uneventful life of service. Some situations, such as previously repaired joints which have failed, require reinforcement. This guitar fit the bill and received two mahogany splines and some touch up work.
New parts, modifications, installations and repairs for both electric and acoustic instruments. Fix up that scratchy signal chain and get the (unwanted) gravel out of your sound.
